First we heard an extraordinary storyteller called Jen. She told us the story of Ranginui and Papatuanuku, which is a Maori story about how the world was made. Then she told us the story of Matariki. She also showed some carvings on the pataka (Nuku Tewhatewha).
Room 1 are fantastic learners with a real interest in the world around us. We are a class of 24 year 3 students at Normandale School, Lower Hutt, Wellington.

We Visit The Dowse
Yesterday Room 1, 2 and 3 visited the Dowse Gallery.
First we heard an extraordinary storyteller called Jen. She told us the story of Ranginui and Papatuanuku, which is a Maori story about how the world was made. Then she told us the story of Matariki. She also showed some carvings on the pataka (Nuku Tewhatewha).
The we went to the workshop where Anna showed us how to make collages about Matariki. We put on the sky (Ranginui) and the land (Papatuanuku) the added some korus to represent ourselves and an adult from our family.
