Well done Caleb again. Samoa are playing Namibia at Rotorua today.
The boys are starting a comeback - it's now 4 - 2 to the girls.
A speed test then:
Who can be the first to post the final score between Samoa and Namibia?
Room 1 are fantastic learners with a real interest in the world around us. We are a class of 24 year 3 students at Normandale School, Lower Hutt, Wellington.

Our Heroes
In Room 1 we came up with a list of the qualities that we thought were important in our heroes and sports heroes. In groups we came up with a Top 5.
The students then wrote down their Top 10 qualities in their workbooks.
'Good looking' came at or near the top in a number of student's lists - time for some big conversations!
Meah
On Friday Sam's dog Meah came to visit Room 1. Meah is a Rhodesian Ridgeback. She is a beautiful golden brown like dark gingerbread. She felt very soft and is very cute. (by Rm 1)
The Rhodesian Ridgeback was bred in Africa where they were used to hunt lions among other things. The area they come from is now called Zimbabwe. Can you find Zimbabwe on a map?

Can you see the ridge down Meah's back? That is how her breed got its name.
Thank you to Sam's dad for bringing Meah in.

Samoa # 5
Well done Caleb - the boys are finally on the board!
There are just over 180 000 people living in Samoa. Compare this with just over 100 000 living in Lower Hutt and 390 000 living in Wellington City.
What a small country to be competing at the Rugby World Cup.
4-1 to the girls still.

Next Question - Samoa's first game is on Wednesday;
Who are they playing and what city are they playing in?

The World Cup
Finally the Rugby World Cup is upon us. I hope the All Blacks have a good game tonight!
I've heard the opening ceremony is looking good (and only 25 minutes long).
As a taster we checked out a couple of videos in class today - Jonah Lomu in full flight and the highlights from the 1987 World Cup. I can't believe that was 24 years ago!

Samoa # 4
Well done Reagan. Samoa are in pool D of the Rugby World Cup along with Fiji, South Africa, Wales and Namibia. What a tough pool they have!
Well that's 4 zip to the girls - I don't know if the boys can catch up......
Next question and I had better make it a harder one. What is the population of Samoa - how many people live there?
Try your best

Samoa # 3
Well done Rhianne and Caleb - Samoa's shirt colours are blue and white. Unfortunately Rhianne pipped you at the post Caleb so it is 3-0 to the girls!
Your next question is:
Who are the other teams in Samoa's pool at the Rugby World Cup?
